Because I get so many requests for clan logo designs (I'm also referring to guild and gaming network logos) I thought I'd do a brief FAQ. You can use this before deciding to enquire if you're looking for your own unique clan logo design.
1) How much does a clan logo cost?
The minimum starting price is £60. Depending on your requirements this can increase, especially if the logo is complex or contains lots of separate elements, or if you require a range of different graphics (banners, button designs, trophy awards, signatures etc).
2) Why does it cost so much? My friend can do it for free.
I am a professional freelance graphic designer, therefore my work has to reflect both my level of experience, and also my general living and expense costs. Therefore I can not compete with other designers offering to do the work free of charge. It's not uncommon to charge a large business or corporation upwards of £1000 GBP for a professional logo design. In comparison, clan logos are much cheaper than this because the demographic tends to be much younger. I realise this may still seem expensive, at which point you should think of it as more of a long term investment.
3) How can I pay?
I accept payments via Paypal, but if you are based in the UK I can also accept a regular bank transfer. Once a final fee is given I request a 50% fee upfront, with the remainder usually being paid before I hand over any final files. I cannot start work on the design until a deposit has been paid.
4) I need my logo design yesterday! How long will it take?
It usually takes anywhere from 1 week to 1 month to complete a design. This can be due to the complexity of a design, or my current work commitments
5) What file types will I receive, and how?
I can produce any file format you require, but this must be specified ahead of time. Plan which file formats you are most likely to require for its different different uses. I can provide Ai, PSD, EPS, PDF, JPG, PNG, BMP, and pretty much any other file type. Please also specify if you require physically printed material for t-shirts and/or other printed graphics, as these can take longer to prepare than web based graphics.
6) I don't like the final design. I want a refund!
Unfortunately I cannot offer refunds on deposits. The aim is to arrive at a final design that we both agree on. I can keep you updated on your design with mock-ups and rough ideas. At this point you have the opportunity to offer your own input as to how the logo should develop. Alternatively, you can give me free reign to provide an awesome design that you'll be sure to love.
7) I accidentally deleted my logo file! Can I have a back up?
I always archive all work I produce. If you need a replacement copy then just let me know. I'll send it to you again, free of charge.
8) I've paid for my logo, therefore I own it!
A graphic designer always owns 100% of the work that they produce (and this is probably the same in many other fields). However I always give rights of usage to the paying customer. All I ask is that I reserve the right to use the logo in my portfolio or on my website. I may also decide to make changes to the logo before uploading to such sites. This is to ensure my clan logo portfolio always remains current.
9) Some other clan has stolen my logo. What are you going to do about this?
Usually contacting the offending clan in question and asking them to remove said logo will resolve the issue. This doesn't happen often so it shouldn't be a concern, but if a given issue persists, it is up to the owner of the logo (the paying customer) to resolve the issue with the offending party. I also get regular requests from people asking to 'borrow' or use a design in my portfolio that already belongs to another clan. Rest assured that I strictly deny these requests, however, I cannot physically prevent them from copying and pasting images off the internet.
That about sums it up. If you feel I need to add anything extra then please do let me know!
Thanking you in advance,
